The Dutchers send their deepest sympathies to Michelle Turner, owner of V.S. Flowers, after the recent passing of her husband Steve. Having just celebrated their 25th anniversary in business, V.S. Flowers has been a long time supporter of the Dutchers.  The Dutchers have called upon them for floral arrangements on many occasions and would highly recommend them to anyone in the Saugatuck/Douglas area.

Saugatuck Citizen of the Year

posted Sat April 04, 2015

The Dutchers wish to offer their congratulations to Marilyn Starring for being chosen the 2015 Tony Vettori Saugatuck Citizen of the Year. She is a loyal, generous and long time supporter of our club and other non-profit groups.  Besides owning and being involved with the Star of Saugatuck Cruises since the 1990’s, she has also been involved with community organizations, Saugatuck/Douglas Schools, and many professional captain’s and ship organizations.  She and her husband, Bruce, have also hosted fundraising events for groups in the area.  They never say no to helping others out on a regular basis.  We are proud of her award and feel privileged to have her business as a supporter of the Dutchers.  Three Huzzahs to Marilyn and Bruce Starring and to the Star of Saugatuck Cruises!

Dutchers Lose One of Their Finest Gentlemen

posted Mon March 09, 2015

The Dutchers were saddened to hear of the passing of their former umpire, Henry “Hawkeye” Van Singel, who recently lost his battle with cancer.  Henry was a member of the Butler Street Boys, served as the Mayor of Saugatuck, and umpired Douglas Dutchers base ball matches for 5 years.  Hawkeye will always be a champion in the hearts of the Dutchers.
